Prisoners Week 2014

Prisoners Week this year runs from 16 – 23 November 2014.  This initiative is run by the Churches and aims to stimulate discussion, highlight concerns and share hope, in prisons and communities across Scotland.

2014 Theme: the theme for this year is ‘Behind the Mask’ and offers an opportunity to see others – and perhaps also ourselves – differently. Setting aside labels, categories, fronts and masks, there’s a chance to see people as people. Perhaps such things are a part of the journey towards safer communities and more fulfilled lives?

National Launch Service: the Prisoners Week Launch Service returns to Dunblane Cathedral, FK15 0AQ, on Monday 17th November at 18.30, followed by refreshments. The Service is ecumenical and open to all. A number of national Church representatives have been invited to lead the Service and the address will be given by the Rev. Sally Foster-Fulton, Convener of the Church & Society Council of the Church of Scotland. Attendance is anticipated from the Churches, the Criminal Justice Community, and local communities.

Website: a new website www.prisonersweek.org.uk is now accessible.

Planning: a Planning Group meets on a regular basis each year to determine the theme and includes Prison Chaplains and representatives from the Churches and Voluntary sector organisations. Prisoners Week Trust is a Scottish Charity (SC043431).
