West Highland Way and Ben Nevis fundraiser

In May this year one of our family members we have supported, and friend embarked on a mission to not only walk the West Highland Way (a mere 96 miles) but also to finish this off in style with a climb up Ben Nevis. All this was done to raise funds for Families Outside and Scottish Families Against Drugs.

Despite it being the start of summer the week of the walk was one of the worst, with three days and nights of none stop rain – not great for walking, and certainly not great for wild camping.  Friendships were tested but they persevered and completed the walk in six days taking a night to recover before the climb up Ben Nevis.  The highest mountain in the British Isles, Ben Nevis stands 1,345m above sea level yet, through sheer determination, they completed the climb up and down in just 5½ hours – an excellent achievement which raised almost £1,400.

These funds will be divided between the two charities.  We would like to thank both intrepid explorers for their efforts.
